Divergent Movie series Review

Are you a fan of sci-fi futuristic films?

Divergent is the first part of the movie series which is followed by Insurgent and Allegiant.

It is a movie about Tris, a teenager who lives in a society that is divided into five factions, namely Amity, Candor, Erudite, Abnegation and Dauntless. As each person enters adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for life.

It seems like the old caste system that prevailed in our Indian society but here all the factions have an almost equal stand and they are divided based on their traits.

When Tris undergoes the aptitude test required of all teens that helps to determines which faction is the best reflection of one's true nature, her results are inconclusive. She has parts of 2-3 factions which makes her a Divergent who are deemed as dangerous as they are the ones who can break the faction system.

Due to pressure of choosing a faction, she chooses to be a Dauntless and has to leave her family behind and also chooses to adopt a new name. Just like how some brands revamp their products by changing their packaging. But just like them, Tris forgets that the internal formulation remains the same.

Tris tries to break the faction system and succeeds in doing so as well but she soon realizes the looming super power that is controlling everything.

I really enjoyed watching this series. Its the right blend of drama, emotions, romance and self discovery. All of the actors have played their part really well. It is engaging and keeps you hooked to what will happen next.

The first two parts are better than the third but you obviously need to watch third as well to know how it ends!
