Actives In Skincare

We all have been confused by the barrage of ingredients that have been present and all the new launches that brands keep throwing at us.

So many of us want to dive into Acids or Active ingredients but do not understand what and how to and WHICH active do we need?

So here is a simple chart that I thought would come in handy when you want to tackle a particular issue.

This has been the most difficult post to make for me in #vanitysparklesexplains. Do comment down below if you find it useful.

Now, these actives work in many ways but I have just mentioned the very basic benefits and functions that they provide us with. I know that as someone who does not have the interest or motivation to study ingredients (Not everyone is a #skincarefanatic ), this would act as a very BASIC guide in selecting what they need.

Lets start!

AHA-

These include glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, to name a few.

If you have hyperpigmentation or white heads then this is your friend. It helps to exfoliate the dead skin from your face and evens out the skin tone. It helps to improve the texture of the skin. It can be used 3-4 times a week. Use in night routine.

Recommendation: pixi glow tonic, suganda, dr.sheth

BHA/ Salicylic Acid-

This is best for oily and acne prone skin. If you suffer from a lot of acne then use this 3-4 times a week and you will see a difference. It helps to reduce acne and black heads. Use in night routine.

Recommendation: suganda

Vitamin B3/ Niacinamide-

Now, this has slowly become my most favourite ingredient. It helps to control sebum or oil production, helps to reduce visibility of pores and also helps to reduce acne. It also helps to fade pigmentation. It is the most stable active in skincare. It also helps in hydrating the skin and strengthening the skin barrier. You can use it everyday in both your am or pm routine.

Recommendation: deceim, goodmolecules, suganda, purebubbles, theearthrhythm, drsheth

Vitamin C-

Whenever some one asks me about a product to brighten their skin, I always think of Vit C. It also acts as an extra layer of protection from the harmful effects of the free radicals which basically means less age spots. It also helps to even out skin tone. It can be used everyday in both routines. Best used in the morning along with sunscreen.

Recommendation: purebubbles, suganda, purebypriyanka

Vitamin A/ Retinol-

The basic function is anti aging. It helps to minimize the fine lines and wrinkles. It is also an exfoliant and so it helps to brighten the skin. It also helps to reduce acne and break outs. It also helps in reducing hyper pigmentation. It can be very drying for the skin and you need to use it only 2-3 times with a heavy moisturizer. Do not forget sunscreen in the morning.

Recommendation: eclat, deceim

Hyaluronic Acid-

It provides hydration to the skin. It takes moisture from the surrounding and hydrates the skin making it softer and plump. It can be used everyday, both in am and pm.

Recommendation: deceim, goodmolecules, dotandkey
